Back Door windows

I think there are 2 reasons that they don't roll down all the way, 1-Safety, 2- If you take a good look at your door, the window, if rolled down all the way, would hit the wheel-well cut out. My moms old 98 Suburban rear windows would roll down all the way, but on her 'burban, the rear wheels were far enough back were the wheel wells don't interfer with the rear doors. Her new '02 Tahoe, the windows roll down half the way.

Somebody should probably make a kit that would cut the window down far enough so it would roll down flush then add a stationary panel on the upper part ... would make it a lot easier for ppl who need to  or something (hey I know it happens as a friend barked in the back of my old 91 Blazer and even though it had the sliding rear window he did not quite make it :D ... luckily it wasn't much).

I don't think it has anything to do with safety.  That's what the car dealer tells you, but I know American car/SUV rear windows haven't been able to go all the way down for years.  The more expensive foreign vehicles usually had some kind of divider and a piece of stationary glass so that the rear window could go all the way down.  Obviously that costs more to do, I think American automakers just didn't want to spend the money.

look at a jeep cherokee, chevy blazer, trail blazer and other SUV's, I think the Explorer.  They all have rear windows that go down all the way because of the split glass
