Need Help, How Do I Remove Torque Converter Bolts

should be able to rotate fly wheel until you see and opening. im my tbss it was where the starter is (had dot drop starter obviously) then i used a long, long extension and went at it. worked like a charm every time.. and there was ALOT of times.. good luck

assuming you are referring to the 02 Escalade in your avatar:

take the starter off, it's not much of a hole but that's all you have to work with. you can rotate the motor with a breaker bar and a large socket placed on the crank bolt on the front of the motor.

Remove inspection cover.

It covers the gap between the engine block and the transmission.

 

Look on the engine side of the flexplate (aka flywheel) you will see bolts holding the flexplate to the torque converter (4 or 5 of them).

 

Remove each with a wrench as you will usually not be able to get a

socket and ratchet up in there to loosen them.

No need to remove starter!

 

You will have to rotate motor to move the bolts to the bottom of their

rotation to gain access to them one at a time!
