Installing An Auto Dim Mirror In A 2011

Recommended Posts

I am going to pick up a 2011 silverado tomorrow and will be missing the auto dim mirrors from my '08. The '08 has the DL3 mirrors, and I know it is not really possible to install them on a truck with DL8. I can live without them.

I would like to install the auto dim ISRV mirror though. I know I can get the GM rear view camera kit and will in turn get the auto dim mirror, but $900+ is just ridiculous when the option only costs $450.

Would it be possible to use the ISRV from a LTZ with navigation, since that mirror won't have the RVC display, but still has the auto dim feature?

Thanks for the link Ryan.

I would like to install a mirror that does not have the compass/temp display since it is already displayed on the DIC.

What I need to know is if the 16 pin connector is retained on all types of mirrors.

I also need a P/N for a mirror from a "10/'11 LTZ with navigation. I am pretty sure that will give me what I need.

Just an update. Purchased the 15816792 mirror and it was just as simple as unplugging removing the manual dim mirror and plugging in the auto dim mirror and mounting.

Now why GM didn't just make this the standard isrv mirror is beyond me. Now if I could get the DL3 mirrors my '08 had...

I noticed you cant add a DL3 mirror to the SLE, they want you to buy the SLT dont they

Yeah I guess that was their strategy.

$$$$$ Thats why. It saves them a couple bucks on the truck, and retards like me will buy a more expensive option package to get them and other overpriced "fluff" features.

Man I need to do this, I miss the Auto Dim. I need to take a look at our new truck and see what wires are there.

If I could get the temp and compass to that would make the wife all so happy. She hates she cant see the temp when sitting to the right.

I will have to fiqure out what its wired for now, I want the most I can get for plug and play!

I believe you can get the DL3 on an SLE, at least here in Canada, with the SLE Exterior Package:

"SLE Exterior Package – includes remote vehicle starter system, fog lights, universal home remote,

power remote control exterior rear-view mirrors (heated, power folding with integral turn signal

indicators) and auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror. Also includes 17" Sport aluminum wheels"

It doesn't say in that description, but I'm pretty sure they're body-coloured, as well.

In the us you can't get the dl3 on an lt/sle but they can be added

I found one way around that for you GMC guys.....Order the All-Terrain pkg. ("GAT") in SLE trim and you get the DL3's as part of the package.
