285/70/17 With A Rc 2" Level Kit

I have a 08 Z71 with the stock tires on it. They actually put brand new ones on it when I bought the truck. I bought the leveling kit and from what I understand I can put 285/70/17 on my truck. I'm looking at getting the bfg all terrain t/a. Now I did some searching on the board and it should fit no problem. Now my question is how much strain will this put on the truck? I've heard that the level kit alone is fine but my local guy told me if I put those tires on it's going to strain my truck. I asked him what he meant and he said pre-mature wear on drivetrain parts? Have any of you heard of this? Thank you in advance for replies.

Different tires will not strain the drivetrain. Who is your local guy and what is his job? What is his training? I would find another local guy.

He works at a tire shop that I went to get prices on those tires and he went into all this about how they won't fit even with the leveling kit and that i'm "asking for trouble" by putting bigger tires on than the factory recommends. Just listening to him I knew he was full of it....so I will be buying my new tires elsewhere

They will fit for sure (sig below) and that guy is full of it. Go with the tires and be happy!

Can anyone post some pics of this size tire on a GMT 900 series HD ? I have a 4X4 Z71 crew and I am thinking of going to this size tire on my stock 17" aluminum rims, thanks in advance.

i just put on the mickey thompson atz with this tire and levelingt kit set up very happy with the results probably going to put on the block in the rear to nock the bow down. I would suggest taking off the piece of plastic under the front bumper below the fog lights....Funny thing is in the manual it says to take this piece off before off roading....ha
