The "blue stuff" is GM's Auto Trak II T-case fluid (P/N 12378508).  If you have the Auto Trak t-case, you should use this.  It's the only thing it calls for in my manual, no equivelent.  It cost me around $6.00 per quart.  The fill and drain plugs are recommended to be changed also (P/N 15032997)  and they were $3-4 each, I think.  They come with some stuff on the tread already, which I'm not sure if it's to hekp seal it, or an anit-sieze type of compound.  If your t-case has red looking fluid in it now, it's recommended in a TSB from GM to drain it, fill with the new blue stuff, drive for a minimum of 5 miles, drain and then refill again with the blue stuff.  I'm guessing that helps to flush all the old red fluid out.  If you already have the blue stuff, I'd just drain and refill one time.  If you do have to do it twice, and you do use new plugs, reuse the old plugs after the first drain, and then use the new ones for the final fill.

You should only need 2 quarts to fill it up once, but buying an extra quart won't hurt, just in case you need to top it off a little.  The fluid should be filled up to the bottom of the fill hole.

Now...if I could only get the leak fixed that I have on my t-case rear output shaft seal, I'd be ready to change mine.  I have all the stuff waiting, but I don't want to do it until the dealer gets the leak fixed.  Going back tomorrow for the the 3rd week in a row for them to take a crack at it again.  Can't complain much though, they are covering it under warranty for me even though I'm out of warranty by about 1000 miles.

I changed mine last weekend.  My '01 took right at 2 quarts.  I got one of those screw on long tube filler spouts at Wal-Mart no mess and made it a lot quicker.  I bought the two bolts from GM they were only a couple of bucks.  Everything was good.  The old fluid when it drained (The sun was going down) and it was just as clear as the new stuff goin' in.   :thumb:

I also did a fluid change last week Thank you for the advice reagrding the little tube thingy from Walmart. saved me a lot of time and aggravation :thumb:

I also used about two quarts of the GM fluid and the same two bolts (after adding some teflon tape to the threads). I used a torque wrench on those two bolts but it looked like they went in a lot deeper than their original position. No leaks yet.
