Trying To Price A 4" Lift

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm trying to price a 4" lift on an 08 sierra and was wondering if anyone runs stock rims or if it just looks wrong? I plan on upgrading in the future but would like to save a bit of $$ up. any info would be appreciated.

Stock wheels won't look bad. What size tire you planning?

Check out Southern Truck Performance and/or All Terrain Fabrications for prices on lifts. I've always found them to offer the best prices.

BDS and Rancho make a 4" for the GMT900.

Not sure of a site that does that but you can go to trucktoyzperformance.com click on the gallery then trick toyz installs and put in vehicle lift tire size and see some pics.

A 33x12.50 should fit with a 4" lift and look nice.

285/65/18 isn't really a true 33x12.5.

However myself and many others would recommend getting a 6" lift and still run the 33x12.5 tires. A 6" lift is pretty much the same price as a 4" and then you have the ability to jump it to 35's later if and when you decide to go bigger and most do.

Some will tell you 6" is too much for 33's but a true 33x12.5 look nice with a 6" lift.

I just had the Rancho 4" put on last week, and I'm going to run the stock wheels until I can afford new wheels and tires. Hopefully the first week in February I should have everything together. I don't think it looks bad at all.

4" lift won't look bad at all with stock wheels I don't think. All terrain fab is a great company also. They helped me with all the trouble I had from the rough country 3" (adjusting control arms, alignments, all the way to calling rough country and making them buy that shit back be ause it was junk. If you are looking for the cheap way out, I would suggest (like me and others) the CCM 2.5" leveling kit, and zone 1.5" body lift. Basically $275 for everything. However, if your dead set on a suspension lift, all terrain fab has some of the best prices on the BDS lifts (at least they did when they were hping me with that RC junk). Like everyone said, most want to go bigger after a while, and a 6" with 33's looks bad ass for the same price. I'm going the cheap route, and a 4" with 285's like what I have looks good as well.

I have the rancho with a set ot 33x12.5-18 toyo mt's... I love the look. I have also seen the rancho kit with 33's and stock rims and it also looks very good, actually is what made my mind up on the rancho kit.

As I stated earlier and Matt agreed; if you even THINK you may want to go bigger later get the 6" up front.

When I started all this I got the 2" level and thought I was happy. Then I got some bigger tires 275/70/18 BFG's and again thought I was happy. Then I started to think about possibly getting a suspension lift. I was convinced I only wanted a 4" lift and 33x12.5 tires. Then I saw where the BDS 4 and 6 lift were the same price (I think they're $12 difference) so I got to thinking why not get the 6" for the same price cause install was going to be the same either way. Anyway I think the BDS site was showing the 6" lift for 2200 (its 1813 today) I did some web searching and found I could get the BDS 6" with gas shocks and stainless brake lines for 1599.99 from All Terrain Fabrications so I called them up and decided that was the way I would go and placed the order. Got the kit, went through some BS with the install shop but finally got it installed. I was under the impression I wasnt going to be able to use my stock wheels so I ordered some 18x9 with 4.75 back space. But my stock wheels worked fine with the 33x11 I was runnig. I was going to just run the 33" tires I had and it looked fine even with my 33's only being 11" wide but I saw a GMT 900 with some 35's and said I had to have them

I had to cut some plastic and knock the rear of the front fender back a little for the 35's. I then decided to get a 1.5 zone body lift and now I wish I would have gone ahead and gotten the 3" body lift.

I really just posted all this so I could post pics of my truck :sigh:

But seriously if you have even thought about 35's get the 6" now. 33x12.5 will look fine and you have saved time and MONEY if and when you decide to jump up to the 35's later.

But a 4" with 33x12.5 will look awesome too. Just trying to save you some headache down the road :smash:
