K&n Air Filter To Replace Stock.

I'm just wondering if it would be a good idea to replace my stock air filter with a replacement K&N? I know a whole new performance intake system would be good, but I'm really not want to spend $300 on it right now. I wonder if just the little replacement filter would help my mpg or anything? I've read reviews and some say it does improve and some say no noticeable difference. What do ya'll say?

i have had a k&n filter in almost every vehicle i have owned as well as a gm performance intake in my last truck and for the 40-50-bucks it is worth it..F.Y.I..ur truck won't get better gas mileage but it will breath better and accelerate with less effort..just keep th re-oiling to a minimum as too much oil can mess up ur mas air flow sensor.

on another note it is reusable over and over and over ...a little periodic cleaning and it pays for itself over time..JMO

k&ns have their place. they dont seem to work too well on some carbed bikes, on my quad it works great especially on days when i bury it in mud and open the air box and its full of mud with a filthy filter but post filter its still spotless. itll increase the sound a little but chances are any increase in gas milage willbe so minimal you wont notice it. but f it sounds better and you get a bit more pep without loosing gas milage then its worth the swap. ill be doing one after the winter :D

I've been running K&N in my truck for about 10 years. I did get some MAF codes, and the dealer suggested that the K&N oil might be a factor, but in the end, I think it was a bad intake manifold gasket that was the culprit. I don't clean my filter all that often (they say it filters best when it's a little dirty anyway), so I think it's been great.

as long as you dont over oil you should be ok, and make sure its dry before using it. a friends m3 was having some issues with a k&n filter making his car run a little off. we checked the maf and it was wet with filter oil.

I just recently replaced the stock filter from my 08 CC and it looked very clean, after 2.5 years and 22000 miles. If you want better gas mileage drive like grandma, it works. I have recently been trying this and my overal mileage when from 14.5 to 16.5 (hand calculated)....Just take off slower and do the speed limit. BTW, I went with another stock filter not a K&N.

Oh believe me I do drive like Grandpa. My hand calculated average is 18-19. Sometimes 17 if it's been cold or driving on faster highways. I go to the extremes to get good mileage because I drive so much. I just wondered about a new filter. I think I'm going to leave it alone. Mailny because it doesn't sound like I'll detect any difference except in the sound maybe. And I hate waisting money
