How do you remove the mirror covers without breaking them? I have 2010 silverado with chrome mirrors and i want to change them to painted ones. Is there a how to in the fourms?

If no one else gives you any input, I'll scan the directions on removing the mirror caps when I get home and post it up for you.

I just did mine, I have no idea how you could do it without breaking some of the tabs and not damage any of other soft plastic on the mirror itself. Good luck.

Thanks, I am going to try to do it today. I wanted to ask before I break the mirror. I can't wait to get rid of the chrome.

Just finished. I broke one tab and had to glue it. Also got some glue on the painted mirror. It was a bitch to get off. Still have two spots I can't remove. It wasn't hard to remove. All I did was remove the lower part of the mirror housing and the covers came off with it. If I didn't break a tab it would have went smooth and easy.

I much prefer the painted covers. I also prefer painted door handles as well. Too bad GM does not sell the door handles painted, they are all listed as being paint to match.

I still have my chrome handles and mirror caps. I don't want to sell them because when I ever get rid of the truck I will have all stock pieces. If I need or someone else wants to change it back. I don't like much chrome thats why I had to change the front, mirrors and handles. I had to change my truck when i walked up to another and the remote wouldn't unlock the door. Since i did all the changes I get more complements and how-tos to change their truck.
