Hi All,

Bought a 2011 Sierra Nevada dec 31st. traded in a 2005 Sierra sle. Have been creeping posts on this site for a couple weeks and intend to do some of the mods ive seen. My problem (S),

(1) I have the fogging issue thats been posted about, need to get computer update to fix.....no big deal

(2) I have the rusting chrome issue that has been posted about, new bumpers and side steps ordered and will be installed asap.

(3) On the way to work this morning the rear suspension blew apart. (3100 Km) I know sh*t happens but did I get a lemon or what.

I live in eastern Canada, and dont get me wrong, the dealer has been great about everything, but I bought a new truck to avoid it being in the shop all the time. Does Gm have a return policy? If there are more issues with my truck what are my options, grin and bear it :wtf: . Or should I be doing something about it.

Thanks.

Bill

Funny because I also traded in a 2005 GMC SLE Sierra for a 2011 Silvy Z71 3 weeks ago. Our difference is that the rear end blew out in my 05 Sierra lolololol....

there was a recall on about 1500 2011 trucks for a faulty sypder gear pin in the rear end.. the issue was the casting of the Eaton Rear Diff. it's an Eaton issue not a GM issue.

I suspect you might fall within that recall, it was a major safety issue, owners were being called and told not to drive the vehicles and a tow truck was sent to collect them and replace the rear diff casting.

a few issues but GM will cover... the chrome is cheap compared to what they used to come with, the Rear suspension though is crap. I still don't think GM made much of an effort to let people know if they were effected or not. I asked my dealer 3 weeks after it was initially announced, when they added more trucks to the recall and they didn't even know about the recall....

at least you have a Sierra so you won't have the peeling bowtie on the tailgate

Wow, that's a new one. I have not noticed any peeling on my GMT 800. They must have made this thing cheaper then for GMT 900 trucks.

What is unethical about this whole business is that even if they replace these parts under warranty , the new part is probably just as bad. So once warranty expires, the new part will be at your expense.

I hope they don't replace them with the same parts esp that axle pin! Interestingly. I have a 2011 z71 purchased oct 2010 it escaped the pin. You would think the first ones were\\\ould have the faulty piin but looks like it was a later batch that got those.

The axle pin is a critical part and has high liability implications. GM will not play games with the replacement part. Rest assured that the new pins will be properly made and tested before GM approves them.

It doesn't. Maybe that's why it isn't peeling. :D

My bad, I thought my truck had one. The big one on the front grill still looks good though.

Is GM sending out recall notice on the Axel pin? I just bought a 2011 Seirra Denali about 3 weeks ago do I need to go by the dealer and see if mine is in the recall?

Apparently the bolt that holds the rear shock snapped off. Dont know yet if there was any other damage, they had to order the bolt....got a rental. Does anyone know gms lemon policy in canada. Do they document everything, or should I be documenting it all, etc.

You want to lemon law your truck because a shock bolt broke? C'mon. They'll replace it under warranty and you'll be on your way.
