Delayed 2-3 Upshift....

I've just noticed over the past couple days that my truck is having what feels like a delayed shift from 2nd to 3rd. 1st to 2nd is smooth and normal. 3rd to 4th is normal.

2nd to 3rd - RPM's will jump from 2500 to 3500 and it feels like there's a lag or delay. The shift otherwise is smooth. NO clunking, NO slipping out of any gear. Just a lag on the 2 to3 upshift. NO issues on downshifts.

The last time I checked it, the fluid level was good and the fluid itself looked good. I am overdue for a fluid and filter change, but that's about it.

I'm going to check the basics, but wanted to see of anyone has had a similar problem. Search hasn't turned up too much info.

TIA

Well Ill say this after doing my filter at around the 80,000km mark it "seemed" to run a little smoother. Could've been all in my head, but I'd start there if I was you, if you do it yourself its cheap as hell.

The 3-4 clutches on these are weak, thats most likely your problem. How many miles on your truck??

77,000+ pretty much trouble-free miles on the clock.

The 4L60 series transmissions have always had weaknesses ever since GM introduced them. My 1988 Trans Am has a 4L60 that survived to 147,000 miles before the torque converter gave up. The shop that rebuilt it was surprised. They said they usually see them around 70,000. One of the items the shop did on that trans was put in a better 3-4 clutch pack.

I was hoping by now that GM had made improvements.
