Replacing Two Tires

Well I unfortunately have to replace 2 of my tires. They're the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S. I only have 13000 miles on them but got a big bolt in one of them and after 2 patches, it is still leaking. I've priced them out at work (a Ford dealership) and just for curiousity, i checked tirerack.com and happened to notice upon doing so that the tires pictured look VERY different in both the sidewall and tread design. I was wondering if anyone knew if the OEM tires are a GM specific design that only can be gotten from GM dealers or what's the deal with them. I can't afford to put 4 new tires on right now so I have to go with just 2. Don't bother suggesting other brands and what not, thanks but I want my 4 tires to match. All I want to know is are they GM specific??

Tire Rack's website has a disclaimer that says the tire tread shown in the photos is only for one particular size and the actual tread may vary according to the tire size.

I doubt Goodyear made two different treads for the same sized tire, so I'd bet the ones you'd get would be exactly the same as what you have.

Where are you seeing the disclaimer at? Here is a picture of the 2 tires. The first is the OE tire, the second is what I'm seeing online labeled as the goodyear wrangler AT/S. NOTICE the SIDEWALL (V-shape tread blocks in the OE)

Maybe its a redesign in the tire and one is from the old batch and one is from a new batch?

EDIT: I just noticed when looking at pictures, one is AT/S (the non V one) and one is AT/SA (the ones with the Vs). is ones just a normal all terrain and the other the silent armor all terrain?

Just looked at some pics on ebay of used tires and see the two different tread patterns. I did notice every picture of an actual tire in 265/70R17 is the design in the first picture with the groves, is this the size you have?

Greg: The silent armor is an even different tire. It has a weird design on the sidewall.

TJ: Yes the tires that are on my truck are 265/70R17 so maybe that is what the difference is.

Used to quite common for that to happen. Look on the sidewall for a TPC number.

My Load Range C LT rated Goodyears look like the second pic. The top pic looks like every AT/S I've seen on a dealer lot. Maybe the P rated tires have a different sidewall since the tread depth is different.

The first pic is the old design tire from goodyear and the second is the new design tread, I just put new ATS tires on my truck and the tire guy told me that as I ask the same question because the tread was differant from the original tires that came on the truck new.

I asked the same question around work and got 2 with the same tread that I had. I think that the tread is different ONLY on the 265/70R17 because I see other AT/S's (different sizes) and they look different but all the 265/70R17's ive seen are like the first pic.

When I bought my tires 265/70R17's they were on sale because they were like a end of model tire he showed me the other set that was not on sale and they were the newer tread in the same size. I took the ones on sale. Saved about 100 bucks.
