Rearview Camera

I am thinking of getting a new 2011 sierra. It is loader but does not have a rearview camera and they are very handy. Can it be easily installed at the dealer? What cost should I expect?

I know here in Canada you would be looking at $900 if you have nav and $1250 if you do not. There are a few threads here about installing them so try a search. For the price it is insane, you could purchase a good aftermarket nav setup with better than stock cam for that price.

It depends on your setup. You say it is 'loaded', so I would assume you mean it has Navigation as well.

If you don't have the navigation, you will need to get that, OR the mirror-view camera like this:

Part Number: 19172557

Brand: GM

For Use on Vehicles w/ Locking Tailgate (w/ RPO Code A60, UE1, US8, UUI, UUJ, UUN, YE9)

or

Part Number: 19172558

Brand: GM

For Use on Vehicles w/o Locking Tailgate (w/ RPO Code UE1, US8, UUI, UUJ, UUN, YE9, w/o RPO Code A60)

The price of the mirror setup is $999 for the parts or $1086 installed from my dealership in Ohio. The price if you already have the navigation is $699 or $786 installed. The prices are the same if you have a locking or non-locking tailgate, but the part numbers are different.

I checked with a good aftermarket place in San Antonio and their price is $750 installed on a NON-nav. You get all the onstar and a 3 1/2" screen in the mirror. I have been driving a loaner with such and it sure makes backing at night (dark in the country ya know) easy.

I just received my backup cam I ordered from ebay. It was $179.99 free shipping. It has everything I need for install (besides the tools) and a detailed install guide. All I need to do is have my radio unlocked. If your truck dosen't have a nav radio that is DVD ready, you can purchase a similar camera with the rearview mirror also, but that unit is closer to $500-$600. Hope this helps. Here is the one I bought.
