2011 Silverado P0449 Evap Code

Anyone know if there is a TSB out for this? Not happy that I pulled this code today, I've only got 5000km on my truck. My '03 Sierra also had this code, I know there was a problem with the EVAP vent valve on the GMT-800s. Looks like a trip to the dealer for me.

Just curious, when you get gas, do you top the tank off? (after the auto shutoff kicks the nozzle off, to you fill it more, maybe getting it up the next even dollar?)

I just got this code on my 2011 Siverado with 800 miles on it. Read up on the code, figured it is not a show-stoper and cleared it. Hasn't come back on in 5 days, so here's hoping. Maybe just didn't tighten the gas cap on the refill???

What are you getting at?

I have the same issue with my '09 at 10k on it. Happened after I left it running as I fillled up. Dealer said that may of caused it but I took it in, they quickly changed it and I was on my way.

Take it into the dealer and I'm sure it will be just as painless.

I tried clearing the code, but it came right back on. My gas cap is tight.

Update: Dealer said rustproofing oil got into the valve and caused it to stick and fail. They need to drop the tank and replace the whole valve and vent line assembly. They don't have the parts in Canada and it will take a week to get them from the USA. Now I'm worried I will have to pay for it since it was caused by something I had done.

Drop the tank? Is this something new to recent years? Earlier GMTs' vent valves are fairly easily accessible (between cab and bed).

They said the vent valve only comes with the complete valve and vent line assembly, so the whole thing needs to be replaced. I know on the GMT-800s you could just replace the valve.

The vent valve line routes to the evap canister, which should also be accessible. Unless there has been some major design change in newer models, I don't understand why they would want to drop the fuel tank.

I replaced the vent valve and it's fine...
