Question For 6.2 Owners

I was just wondering what you got when the truck was new. I went a short trip yesterday about 320 miles there and back. I am averaging less then 13 MPG even on the highway.

 

Should I be taking it back in? Or will it get better? Because they are advertising 14 city and 21 highway. Which is better then the 5.3. But I can't even hit the city numbers on the highway.

 

My truck right now as a little over 400 miles on it.

I get 13 around town and 17 highway so far... and get that very consistent.

 

I also have the 3.73 gears. How fast/hard are you driving. I don't baby it but I don't hammer it either.

I am getting 11.5 right now (E85). How is the weather by you (temp wise). With it being colder here I have lost about 1 mpg.

I'm averaging 15.9 so far this week about 50/50 in town and highway nothing over 60 mph I have 3.42s

Time to change gas stations (even switch to another top tier brand).

Chances too, if the dealership gave you a full tank of gas, they filled it with 87 octane which would hurt your mileage too.

I'm getting 12 in town right now, and i am a pretty aggresive driver.

 

And the 6.2L is rated at 12/19(or is it 13?) The 5.3 is rated at 14/21 so don't think you will see quite that high on the highway.

 

But my guess is to why your seeing such low numbers is a bad tank of low octane fuel, and maybe a headwind during your trip, as a headwind will make a huge difference.

I have 3.42's. Cruise set @ 65. Temps in the mid 40's. But under 13 both ways? Seems way low even for a brand new one.

Thanks for the congrats. I left the dealership at 9 pm on tuesday and between putting on my parts, taking my friend to get his new track bike, working and all this rain we are having I just haven't been able to get pics. It was raining yesterday when I woke up and hasn't stopped. It is now snowing and between now and Saturday morning we are supposed to get 10 inches.

 

So it may be a little while before I get pics. But they are coming. I promise.

Ya must be the fuel at delivery. I average 11-13 city and 16-17 highway.
