Aftermarket Nav Install

Just finished installing a Clarion NX500 Nav radio in my 08 Silverado. Thought I'd throw some pictures up in case it might help someone. So far, I've used the PAC OS-3 Bose module, as well as the Best Kits BKGMK317 Dash Kit. I originally bought the Metra dash kit, however the opening was too small to fit the Clarion deck. Having had both kits, I can say the Metra kit was a very close match in both color and texture to the original radio bezel, but the Best Kits is acceptable and seems to have a little better contour with the beveled design. I will add the PAC SWI-JACK steering wheel module and backup camera at a later date. All things considered, this is quite a straight forward install - the only problem I ran into was needing to trim the back of the radio pocket to allow room for the extra length of the NX500. I wired the parking brake wire to a normally closed momentary switch instead so I could view the backup camera I have installed on my RV trailer while driving. As a result, it is possible to watch a DVD while driving if one would choose to commit suicide that way!

Finally got all the pieces to add the backup camera as well. The camera was $16, and the chrome bezel was $12. For $28 bucks total, I'm pretty happy with the result.

Where did you get the camera and bezel so cheap? I am looking at doing the same thing to my LS and was wondering what the whole setup cost you in parts. I have the non Bose radioin my truck currently, so everything will probably have to be replaced and rewired.

Hey Mark - same question here. Where did you get the chrome bezel so cheap? Looking for something similar I just don't want it chrome...want it stock.

I picked up the bezel at Canadian Tire on clearance for $11.93. It didn't have the hole for the locking tailgate, so I had to drill that. The camera I ordered from ebay. Ian - All told, I'm into the system for less than $700. The Clarion deck was $499 + tax, and the PAC OS-3 module was about $70 shipped. Still want to get the PAC module to get the steering wheel controls hooked up, but that can wait.

The night one is a darker than it should be as my passenger side light cluster was not working, so there were no reverse, stop or taillights on that side.
