I was just looking at their website and it says .83cu ft per chamber so with the poly fill it is going to act like a .9cu ft box or so which will be a little on the big size for those subs, you wont know it until you get it turned up though but if the subs are peaky at low frequencies and poor response at the higher end end of their range you should take the fill out and glue some acoustic foam to the inside top and that will give you flatter response. Of course maybe you already know all of that.

I hate those spring loaded terminals and they really are not suitable to the power you are going to run through them. I would swap them out for some ones with banana plug style terminals, you can get them from parts express mounted in a terminal cup and should be able to find one the same size at the hole drilled for those.

How did you mount the box to the floor?

yeah that was one thing i forgot to mention about the box! the terminals suck! i just actually ordered some.

yeah i was thinking the same thing about the fill. i bought i original for the type r subs. i was in a rush that night cause a storm was coming and i got the cu ft of these and the type r's mixed up. ill mess with it some more when i have time this weekend. hopefully theyll be broken in by then.

thanks for the advice with the foam

Skank just a heads up. I got the Subthump single 12" box and a Type R SWR-1243D sub this week. The box is listed at 6.5" deep (it actually is a tiny bit deeper) and the Type R is listed at 6 3/8" deep. The problem is that the magnet of the Type R does not fit into the bumpout of the box. I am going to try and cut away some of the bumpout and get the sub to fit. If you want me to take some specific measurements, let me know. I am not sure if the double 12" is different, just wanted to let you know before you buy 2 Type R's.

this thread enspired me. i ordered the same box and am going to run a pair of jl10w1's. i am putting my amp behind the seat so when the seats are up nothing is in danger of being stepped on or unplugged. i did the jx250 amp also.

You still have said how you secured the box to the floor, it is starting to look like gravity to me haha

haha i forgot but you answered it! it doesnt budge or slide or over. the seat bottoms hold it pretty well in place from the humps going into it

Unless you mount it to the floor you are going to have some serious rattles that are going to make all that prep work for nothing, I know noone likes drilling holes in their truck but you almost should.

yeah i really dont want to. its sitting on top of a weather-tech floor liner right now. i think the liner is going to be making some noise. ill have to remove it and go from there.

just ordered the acoustic foam. it should be here some time this week. and ill play with it some more.

i turned it up just a little. not much at all. probably med vol. the dash kit is rattling somewhere. ill have to take it appart and look at it when the weather gets better. its been 50's 60's 70's here and all of a sudden it drops to 30 and starts snowing.

finally got to turn it up. the box doesnt move or rattle. theres some rattling somewhere around the dash. ill have to check it out. also i have it sitting on a weather-tech floor liner. so thats flopping around. im going to have to the back portion out. other then that it sounds pretty good. i feel like i liked the type r's better.

i ordered acoustic foam so after i put that in well see if it sounds better. you were right super. its a little sloppy. few more days till the foam gets here

Did you double sided tape the os4 and swi to the head unit? That might be the rattle I want to throw my swi into the river to be honest, do you have yours working yet? I just looked at the os4 papers and it says use program 2 but the swi vehicle instructions say program 1, I have done lots of this before but not this exact combo and it is driving me nuts.

its driving me nuts too! the dash kit is actually rattling.

i get it to program. everthing works fine. and then you turn the car off. it looses memory. pac says its defective. so i sent it back. im waiting on the new one. well see when it gets here. if not im going to burn it. haha

acoustic foam came and i finally put it in the box behind the subs. and wow what a difference it made. i didnt think it was going to make that much of a difference. didnt get any pics.

Great stuff. You inspired me to join the forum. I hope I can do half the clean install you made.

The way u put everything together you should have made it a tutorial for people with no skills like me.

What type of foam (from where?) did you use inside the box? I saw crutchfield sells some fiber that looks like cotton, and I wonder if that's what you are talking about.

Also I got a mat for the rear and it sounds like the one you mentioned. Did you end up cutting it? If so, how does it look? Easy to cut? Otherwise I'll return it to CF.

For some reason I haven't found much info on this stuff except for your post so thanks. What size are the stock tweeters on the a-pillars? I saw you installed them on the door but I don't feel as confident to do the same.

i have the old version type r components. so the tweeters were bigger. the newer ones are smaller. the pillar size is an inch i believe. if i had the newer versions i wouldve installed them there.

the foad i used is acoustic foam. because the box was bigger then what my subs needed. the acoustic foam took up some of the space and absorbed some of the sound. i placed a 12x12x2 peice behind the sub. i got it off ebay for like 10 bucks i think. that polyfiber youre talking about makes the volume in the box "bigger"

i had the weather-tech floor liners. did cut it today. it was easy. i didnt with a pair of scissors.

another review on the sub thump box. i actually sat in the rear seat for the first time and i am not happy. you can feel that bump pushing up on the bottom cushion. it makes it slightly uncomfortable if you sit there for a long period. kind of disappointed. i wish i knew before i bought it. i might end up raising the rear seat a little bit. just so you dont feel it as much. you feel it more on the driver side then the passenger.
