another review on the sub thump box. i actually sat in the rear seat for the first time and i am not happy. you can feel that bump pushing up on the bottom cushion. it makes it slightly uncomfortable if you sit there for a long period. kind of disappointed. i wish i knew before i bought it. i might end up raising the rear seat a little bit. just so you dont feel it as much. you feel it more on the driver side then the passenger.

Your's is a downfire box too, if I remember correctly, right? Bad part is, I've never seen/felt a set of under the seat

subs NOT put vibration/pressure into the seat above where they are. Is that possible?

the actually hump it pushing up on the cushion. there are other boxes with a much smaller hump. but it doesnt fit bigger subs. i guess you have to give some to get some. i just didnt expect to feel it that much

Thanks for the time you take for replying.

Can you explain what the BIG 3 is? I am also interested in putting a second battery, did you install yourself? Where can I find info on that?

I haven't been able to find a box that convinces me yet. I am thinking single 10 or single/twin 8(s)? Do you have an opinion on this?

I did find the JL Stealthbox with two 10s and it still leaves room under the right rear seat. It's pricey though, it would definitively set me back to finish the project a lot longer

the big 3 is upgrading the ground wire. the alternator wire. and the ground on the engine. theres alot of threads around you just have to search.

on the subs it just depends on what you like and what youre going for. more bass. loud bass. or just to add that little touch that is missing.

i like the jl box myself. but its is pricy. i searched alot of places for boxes. ebay had the most variety. keep in mind cu inch of the box. and how much much your subs will need. itll make a big difference in sound quality.

I agree. I've always liked the sound of JL subs and for the price, they are very hard to beat, imo.

Also on the box, I made my own but found the demensions to get me really close to where I had to be for my sub, with the amount of room under the seat that I had to work with and ended up a touch on the small side for my sub. A bit of packing fuzz (as I call it) made up the difference that I was looking for but took some experimentation to get it just right. Now, while I believe my sub is getting a bit long in the tooth, it still sounds good for the near $0 that I had into fabing my own box. I will be buying a box, for the new truck.

got my new pac SWI in today. and got it to work! finally! but i ran into another problem

my sub amp is blowing fuses. it did it before when i just put in the subs. i had it on the "bridged" setting. which was the wrong one. it was hard to see the small letters. so i switched it over to the L+R MONO. and its been working fine. today after i go to turn it up the fuses blew again! i dont know whats wrong with it. it never did it before. and i used to crank it up way more then i did. anyone have any ideas? its a zapco 750.2

It is likely either a bad ground or a short. Where and how long is your ground? Is it on bare metal or painted? Then check your speaker wires that they arent shorted at the terminals from stray strands.

its the fuse on the amp itself. i checked the wires to make sure. the grounds arent too long. i dont think the ground is that great. i scraped as much paint off as i can. looks like ill have to reground it again. i hope thats the issue. ill have to take the back seat out again. only downside of the amps being back there

I was just thinking you have the two amps, are both amps grounded at the same spot? Common grounds can cause problems some times with amps, even though it really should not it can.

Oh the other thing is did you use program 1 or program 2 for the swi? I haven't taken mine back out to reprogram yet.

that was how it was before. i grounded it. didnt think it was a great ground but it worked. so i left it alone. now it bit in the ass.e so ill reground it better.

the swi manual says use program 1. thats what i went by. but theres a small label on the pac OS4 that says use program 2. the 1 didnt work. itd work and then loose memory when you turn off the car. i changed it to 2. it now it works just fine! give it a try and let me know.

i also just put in a back up cam. ill post pics of that in another thread. OEM style.

I noticed the note to use 2 are I gave up on it and havent been back at it. I am putting a backup cam in mine too just need to paint up the bezel, I got the pioneer one that displays the lines on it, they are an unreal pain to set up but nice to have the lines.

yeah the cam i got ended up having the lines too. it helps alot! pretty straight forward install. i got the gentex mirror. and the bezel with cam off ebay. but yeah after i saw that note it took me only 2 mins to get it working.
