Let Me Know If You Guys Do This..

So I brought my truck to the local GM dealer to have the oil change (Brought my own oil of course) as I don't change it myself in winter (no heated garage).

Anyways I checked the oil level yesterday and noticed I was low, so I go to fill it up and had a hell of a time taking off the oil fill cap. When I finally managed to get it off, I noticed that there was blue lock tite all around the thread and o-ring of the cap, as well as the neck to scew it back in...

I've never seen this before and I used to change oil and replaced tires as a job!

I've seen it more than once, saw it on my 2007 GMC Sierra, and also on my 2010 Silverado. The sierra had it on the top of the neck on the filler cap, and on the neck piece that went into the valve cover, but the silverado only has it on the neck piece going into the valve cover...why is beyond me other than possibly the o-ring is poor quality and they wanted to make sure it wasn't causing a vacum leak?....doesn't make alot of sense to me, but hey...i don't build engines for a living so what do i know...

Never seen that done before, but that sure seems assanine. Especially with a plastic cap, I would give them a call and see what they have to say just out of curiosity
