Advanced 2-way Remote Upgrade

I have a 2009 Silverado LTZ Crew cab. I would like to add the 2-way advance remote. Mainly for the extended range, but mostly for the piece of mind. I called the dealer and I'm getting different results on what I need. I have the rear defroster and not slide window which for some reason is a different add-on.

The site says with my setup I need part # 19171129 (which is the add-on with my options) and the dealer says I need part # 19213167 (which says not to use if you have rear window defrost)

So if anyone has went through this upgrade which one do I need.

I've got an 08 LTZ Crew with rear defrost, no sliding window and I used the 19171129 part.

You loose the function of the old remote. The 2-way remote comes with 1 new one, and that replaces the original.

No, the old remotes still work. Depends on if the dealership sets all the remotes up at once or just the new one. When you get home you can program all the remotes at once, I forget how, it might be through the DIC or the manual has the procedure. They all have to be set up at the same time though. I did mine and just checked it before I wrote this to be sure, and my old remotes work.

News to me... Dealership told me I'd loose the 1 that was replaced with the 2-way. I know my original no. 1 original remote doesn't work. Wonder if it's because the SLT has memory 1 and memory 2 positions. If you don't have that feature, then I could see how the original remotes would work.

I do have that, I have an LTZ. You have to program all remotes at the same time. The first one you program will become #1 and the second #2. I think there is a limit of 5, but not sure.

I just looked, although I didn't go through with the button press, if you have the DIC buttons on the dash to the right of the steering wheel it is on the second button down(the one that shows the tire pressures). Keep pushing until it says something like key re-learn. Have all your key phobs with you. I think when it is in learn mode you press both the lock/unlock button at the same time. Going by poor memory here. If I remember the horn honks, then you do the next phob. This is on a 2008 Silverado.

i bought a remote and went to my dealer. they said im missing something. and they dont know what i need. so they just gave me back my remote and said by.

ive been wondering if i needed something else. any links or info on this?\

and yes you can relearn the fobs yourself through the DIC. alot of people dont know that so they pay the dealer to do it. its just like how kcx said. pretty simple. instructions are in the manual also

There is a module that gets put behind the back seat, I think it replaces the original receiver, I guess making it 2-way, and the antenna gets mounted below the back window.

I believe the module that works with your stock key phobs is located behind the rear seat, at least on Crew cabs. When you get the 2-way remote upgrade package they replace the stock module with the 2-way one and then mount the antenna under the back window. They have to take the seat out I believe.
