Factory Power Windows And Locks Can Be Added!

it wasn't my truck but it was for a guy who had to have that truck and had to have FACTORY power windows and locks. Wasn't expected to get flamed just letting y'all know it could be done. I'm sure as the years go you could pick up a junk yard truck cheaper if you had bought one without pw/pl and wanted to add them.

Well said. :dunno:

I was just thinking that some of the guys on here might be cutting their nose off with their comments a couple years down the road when they pick up a nice plain jane truck dirt cheap and want to install factory power windows and locks.

Might want to write down that procedure and keep it in your back pocket.

Cheers

Nobody is flaming you.. I think its more of a surprise that someone would buy a stripped down truck and add so much $ to it for 2 options, when for the equivalent $ they could have had the next upgraded version, with a vin # in computer that matched the vehicle...

well today I did what said could not be done. I added power windows and locks to a 2011 Regular Cab 1/2 ton Chevy. We put new window regulators, door latches, door panels, switches, body wiring and added some wires from drivers fuse box to rh junction block and mbec. It wasn't an easy task and we had to reprogram the BCM with a vin that had pw/pl but it's done and works great. I just wanted to let you guys know that this can be done. It wasn't cheap or easy!!!

Congrats to that. How about can that be done on a 07 Silverado classic 800 body style pickup? I have the extended cab WT version.

Power windows and locks is a $ 900 and change factory option on work trucks.

Actually it was a $920.00 option that included Heated and Power Mirrors as well. No keyless entry however. I added keyless (aftermarket) a week after I bought my truck for another $225.00 with three remotes.

Well sometimes the project is fun and passes time, and it's an accomplishment when it works. I am going to attempt to add the I think they're 10 way power/heated seats to mine. I have the seats already.

I got power locks on my W/T (GMC) but the power windows itself was an extra $900 so when I ordered it i just decided to stick with the old fashioned way, one less thing to go wrong.

Still, no one has answered my question, how about on an 07 Classic silverado WT? Can it be done? And is the procedures a bit less complex than 08 and newer or the same?

It can be done, I'm in the process of adding power windows, locks, heated mirrors, and steering controls. You need a complete donor truck that has the same ac controls as yours, that will save you a lot of work. It's still a ton of work, you have to gut your dash completely and replace your old harness with one from the donor with power options. I had to remove some of my old harnesses and put them in the new harness(follow the wires all the way through one by one, note where they went and remove them intact so I could add them to the new one) My 03 had an airbag off switch, an electric booster, and the front airbag module harness plugs were all different. It took me 2 days of going through the harnesses to get them working. You also need to change out the junction boxes( one on the driver side floor and both on either end of the dash). My power windows and power heated mirrors work with my old bcm but the door triggers never work because its different from power options to manual, the manual have 2 wires in the blue plug(I think) and the power option works through the ddm and pdm. Power locks and steering controls dont work either right now, I'm waiting for the bcm to the donor truck I used to get here to see if everything works the way it's supposed to(doubt it) I know it's gonna need some programming but not sure to what extent or if it would be easier to just program the old one. Ill keep you posted. If anyone cares :-)

I did a '13 WT last Thursday. I used SPAL locks and lighted power window switches. I coupled that along with a Compustar remote starter for the guy. All installed I charged him $715. Although you can tell it's aftermarket, I like these kits and the finished product looks very nice.

I got the donor bcm, everything works(sorta). The truck would crank but not start, so I did a passlock relearn procedure, now starts, but the radio is locked and the service airbag message is on. Both can be fixed with the correct vin being programmed in to the bcm. I had a few issues with wiring not matching, keep your old harness incase you need to trace wires or run new ones. FYI, when the bcm is changed, the service airbag message will come on until a 10 min V.T.D. procedure is ran with a tech II to relearn the airbag id's, it might work with the 30 min diy relearn after the vin is correct but if it's already connected they can do it, there's nothing wrong with your modules don't waste ur money.

I'm doing a similar project to my 2007.5 Silverado W/t. Have already added factory cruise, volume buttons, key less entry and remote start. Do you mind explaining which wires you had to add to the dash wiring harness?
