Replacing All The Chrome

I just purchased a 2011 Texas eddition sierra about 3 weeks ago and am wanting to remove most of the chrome. Is there a safe way to remove the chrome strip thats on the siding and is there a easier way to replace the door handals and mirriors other then just buying new ones?

Well the chrome in the molding I'm not sure about the door handles are fairly easy. You'll have to find a new set and just swap them out. There's lots of people selling the stock black ones and even painted black. Check ebay. Also, there's just as many people looking for the chrome ones too,.. so you can sell them and recop the cost

Yeah I figured that would be the easiest thing to do about the door handles and mirriors. The dealership said they would sell and install the painted black ones for 150, I suppose thats fair as I can sell the chrome ones for around the same price. Thanks for the quick reply and welcome greeting

Thats a good price. My dealer wanted $300 to install the chrome handles. I just did it myself.

In Canada all that chrome stuff is dealer installed, why not just go ask the dealer you got it from for the original parts back?

It used to be that way but now more and more often we are getting our trucks shipped with all the chrome installed except for the GM 'custom' grille.

 

As for the chrome, I'd watch kijiji or craig's list for someone getting rid of their stock handles.
