I just started looking for a BRAKE CONTROLLER FOR MY 2006 half ton sierra. I do not do a lot of heavy towing I do haul a car on a trailera few times a year though. I dont want to buy a cheap piece of junk but I dont want to buy something thats overpriced that I dont really need. II dont pull anything with more than 2 axles. I know alot of people recomend the Tekonsha Prodigybut is it worth the extra money? Thanks in advance, its appreciated!

Also this should just plug into the plug under the dash by the drivers feet with the proper harness correct?

The Tekonsha Prodigy is the controller I use and it works great.

With two axles and electric brakes its all you need.

+1 on the Tekonsha Prodigy. It may be a little more expensive that other brands, but this is one item you don't cheap out on.

ON EDIT: I guess I could have added that IMO, spend the extra few bucks now that will give you years of trouble free operation. Brakes, trailer or truck are no place to save a couple bucks. From my experience, Tekonsha products are the best . I had the Envoy for years and never had any issues, however the Prodigy is very, very nice compared to the Envoy. I've now had my Prodigy in a Motorhome, 07 F-150, and now its in my 11 Chevy. They can easily be moved later if you switch vehicles so I think its really worth the initial investment.

I've always recommended, and installed, Tekonsha controllers in friends/familys/customers vehicles with 0 issues. All have been flawless in operation and longevity.

$100 for P2 or $70 for junk? Spend $100 now instead of $170 for junk then a Prodigy.

The Agility is similar to the Prodigy/P2. Tekonsha makes some (crappy) time based controllers too.
