Squeak When Releasing The Brake Pedal

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Several months ago, I'd say early June, the dealer told me my brake pads were in need of replacement and I knew they were too with it being a four year old truck. I'd been noticing that when I released the brake pedal it make a quick squeak noise. I figured once the brake pads were replaced that noise would go away but it didn't.

I can only reproduce the noise if I quickly take my foot all the way off the pedal. If I ease off I don't hear it.

Any ideas if this is a problem?

Try lubricating the brake pedal return spring and the pivot pin with WD 40 or some grease. I had an annoying squeak in the clutch pedal in my Mazda 626 and after lubing the return spring and pivot bushing, the noise went away.
