Extra Space For Battery

So I've got a 2008 Z71 Sierra ext cab and love it. can't say enough about the truck. Couple of suspension modification and a leveling kit and it's damn near perfect for a 1/2 ton. Either way, I see there's an extra bay for what looks to be a battery. What's this for? Do they just build them all like this....and it would be for a plow maybe....not sure, just curious.

Or diesel....

I "stole" an idea from the tech tips area where someone put a small boat battery box there. I just put the booster cables under the hood in the box. They never get used (but like the peace of mind), and now they aren't flopping under the rear seat. Now if I need them, I know where they are.

That space is for the Auxiliary battery set-up with the Painless Performance system! http://www.painlessperformance.com/webcata...archField=40120

Just kidding...It's actually there for the diesels which have 2 batts from the factory. Many have added a second battery in parallel for extra capacity, but the best set-up in my opinion is like the painless system which won't drain the aux battery if the main goes dead.
