Hey guys, im pretty new to the forum. i have a 2000 silverado shortbed ext. cab 1500 5.3l that is giving me a P0440 trouble code. What can be the cause/remedy?

EVAP system not working

check for loose gas cap

broken vacuum line to vacuum canister

evap sol not working

There is a thread on here that I posted on. I had the same issue and resolved it by replacing the evap solenoid. But use the part number for a suburban as the part is a lot cheaper. Trying to find it.......

Only issue is that you have a different year truck and it may not be in the same location/same part.

thanks for the info guys. how often is it a bad gas cap vs. bad vent valve?
