So a good deal fell in my lap and I will be picking up a new 1500 Sierra in about a week. Here is my problem. I just put 295s on my current truck about two months ago. the dealer has offered to put the wheels and tires from the new truck on my old one and let me keep my big tires. i want opinions on what to do here. this would require ordering another lift kit and blocks to keep my big tires or i could let them do the swap and then take my 295s off and put some nittos in 265 on the truck and get some of my gas mileage back. im really torn on what to do here. my inner grown-up says put some aggressive 265s on and sell the big ones and my inner child says order the lift kit and blocks and keep my big ones.

I would listen to your inner child We have to stay young someway, go for it! If you buy a lift and install everything are you going to look back and say, "man I should of left it stock"?

haha i might when im filling up the tank 50 miles earlier. well if i do keep the big ones then im going to want more than 2" of front lift. does the top gunz 2.5" kit have a good reputation?

I am not sure about the top gunz kit, I just ordered a 2.5" kit for my truck from CCM. Read some reviews about them and haven't heard anything bad. You do have to cut the studs down from the strut but thats about the only complaint I have heard. I should have it installed with in a week or so.

i will have to look into the ccm for sure. i know i want more than just 2" and that and topgunz are the only kits im aware of that will do 2.5"

Fat Bob's Garage>>> sells a 2 1/2" leveling kit $109.

I went with a 2" and haven't had any issues but thanks for the info!

Drove my buddy's 2004 with 295 Trail Graps to sell it for him. He just had keys, and they rubbed at crank. That and the fact my 1990 with barely any power and 265 ElDorado MTZ Sport tires mudded two times better than the 2004 did has kinda turned me off to wide tires for my 2006. Do the new trucks perform better with levels and wide tires than the old ones?

No question though, that red truck looks good as can be

i have had zero problems in this truck or my previous nnbs in deep mud. the nitto's dig in hard and clean out fast. i usually turn the traction control off when im in the deep stuff so that probably helps.

I am actually about to walk out the door to go have my 285/70/17 Nitto Terras installed on my OEM 17's just got the call they were in and hoping to pull off a similar look with mine. See you got the Astate red paint haha ......... As a Auburn boy here hope Gus wins a boat load for you up there in Jonesboro.

thanks man, Im looking forward to an exciting football season and I hope Auburn beats the pants off the Hogs when they play! i have always loved red (had a red 05 sierra) but my previous truck was silver due to company rules so when i got a chance to get a new truck after leaving that company i went back to red. hope you like your new tires!

got my truck back from the body shop today. had my door handles, mirror caps, and bilet gmc emblem color matched and i had a new grillcraft mx grill installed. next project is to attempt to mount my offroad lights behind the grill now that i have all the space to work with from the cut-out grill.
