Cam Help Please!

I need some help choosing a cam. I have a 2011 Sierra 5.3L. It is my daily driver and I use it for towing and a little racing here and there. I gave Comp Cams a call and they told me the cam I need has been discontinued! They also told me I would have to turn of the displacement on demand.

Well since they don't have the cams I need I was looking at EPS cams and Texas Speed. I don't know much about either. I'm looking for any help I can get and any other reccomendations everyone can give. Any help I can get would be appreciated.

Call EPS and have them spec out a cam for you.

You need to be upfront about what you expect from the cam, exactly how much (time and weight) towing you do or plan to do.

You need to consider if you are willing to swap to a higher stall torque converter.

Thunder Racing (look them up) had the DOD delete kit, they also have plenty of cams that will fit your truck.

I don't understand why Comp would say that. They do custom can grinds every day. They should be able to grind any cam you want.

I was surprised to hear that too. I emailed their tech department and get better information from them about custom cams. I'm looking into Thunder racing and Comp custom grind. I think I will go with a custom grind to get exactly what I am looking for.

In my past experiences the right cam makes all the difference and I don't have any numbers but you'll get a nice seat of the pants increase and you won't hurt daily driving too much. Of course if you go with something crazy radical it can hurt it a little bit.
