Lube, Oil, Filter

So changing my oil and the filters (oil/air) is easy to do, but what do I need to lubricate and what do I need to accomplish this? - OR - Should I just take it to a JiffyLube and have them lubricate everything?  Help please!  Thanks!

As far as lubricating the grease fittings, here's some info: Grease Fittings  2wd trucks will have less, but not sure of the exact number.  You'll need a grease gun and grease.  Adding an extention hose to the gun really helps reach some tricky places.

I usually lube places like the door/tailgate/hood hinges/latches about ones a year.  A small amount of motor oil, or lithium grease works good, but I found the best thing to be some graphite spray.  It sprays on wet, but then the liquid evaporates and leaves the graphite there.  I found it in a spray can at my local auto parts store.

Lube, oil, and filter: Lube the chassis, steering and suspension.

This site (GM-trucks.com) has a lube point tutorial with photos

for the do-it-yourselfer. Oil and filter is the oil and filter change, fill fluids, washer, coolant (Dexcool) set tire pressure

and safety check the vehicle. Well, this is what I do in my shop, your mileage may vary. The one item that I don't service is the brake master cylinder. One it gives me a good guage for brake pad wear, and two, it eliminates cross-contaminating the brake system with a foreign fluid. If a brake master cylinder is low, a brake inspection is in order.

Have a great one!

Thought I'd have to get Tom's attention for his photos, but he jumped right up on this 1.  The lube isn't too difficult.  The photos are helpful, just take your time to look around under your truck.  Once you do it a time or 2, you'll know where they are.
