Ok, thanks for the feedback everyone. Now I just have to see little the sealer will offer for my truck, I'm taking the rebates so well see.

One more thing, rear breaks?

Drum or Disk?

All 6.2l equipped trucks come with the 9-1/2" ring gear "hybrid" rear axle with disc brakes.

Are you sure on that? I thought only the NHT came with the HD rear axle and the dick brakes. My understanding was that the Z-71 had 3.42, the smaller ring gear, different leaf packs, and drum brakes.

Doesn't matter, they both work well. :nonod:

I ordered mine with what I wanted. I've had it since last winter. It's been to Las Vegas, Houston and back home. Back to Houston pick up a U-haul auto hauler and E 36 BMW. Tow to Florida and then back home from Florida to Calgary in 3 days (3000 miles)

Pulled the trailer and car like it wasn't there. Put it in tow/haul and drove back mostly 75 mph. I found myself at 85 a few times.

Best truck I have ever owned. (I mostly got it to get disk brakes. I absolutely REFUSED to go back to drum brakes. Next GM will go back to carbs!)

2. Own one. 2011 Z-71, Non-NHT, 6.2.

Yeah, how would I know......

I'm on my 3rd and 4th ones. My first two were '07's Sierra Denali and Yukon XL Denali, and while the engines were great, the 6sp trans had issues, mostly with shifting way to early, I guess for gas mileage, and the drivability was horrible. My 07 SD even got 3 or 4 computer upgrades from GM, and ea. time got slightly better but I still hated the shifting.

Now my '10 and '11 and hands down tons better, and so much more 'drivable', with no mpg issues at all, same as '07's. My '10 yukon shifts a little better than my SD, but only slightly.

I like both trucks a lot.

And I tow fairly heavy (6K lbs) with my SD, and it does a great job compared to my once favorite tow rig with 8.1L.

Now with all that being said, this old fart would much rather be driving a large RWD V8 sedan, but they aren't made anymore since the last caprice, but I do long for the day that they will be made again someday. As I will only drive, and allow my wife to drive, the biggest practical vehicle for safety on today's roads that are more like killing fields around here in NYC metro area.

No oil issues

Aluminum block and heads.

Premium is recommended for best performance but not required. Lots of owners here say its a notable difference. The cost between the two grades is minimal, maybe $5 per tank so it's a non issue.

I have my truck only 2 weeks (Sierra Denali). The dealer filled it with 87. As soon as I was down under 1/4 tank, I filled it with 93. Notable difference is an understatement. While I haven't opened it up yet, normal and "spirited" acceleration are much better with the 93. We'll have to wait on the mileage figures.

I second this as I have the exact same truck (except its a crewcab and a 2010)

I know it sounds horrible that you have to but I had to stay on the dealer's toes to make sure that mine was filled with premium IF, they were going to fill it before delivery as I NEVER wanted 87 in that tank. They did, thank goodness.

I asked, but was told they only have one pump.

I agree with that. It feels like a diff truck with 93 in it, throttle response and shifting seems effortless.

My salesman took it and put premium in it :)

Yay...more 6.2 talk. I really want one. My current truck is paid off now so I am looking. I want a diesel, but may just jump up to the 6.2. I really don't feel like transferring my lift and other add-ons over though :o( Then again, my truck only has 35k on it and nothing is wrong with it. Decisions, decisions.
