Truck Will Not Start.

I have an 01 silverado 1500 2wd with a 4.8l v8. When i turn the key all the lights come on but the engine does not turn over. I swapped out the relay still no joy. I banged on the starter but nothing happened. tried jumping it just for shits and giggles. still nothing. the only thing i could thing of is to replace the starter itself. does anyone have any other ideas before i go and spend about $200 on a starter?

You said you swapped out relay, but what about fuses? Did you do voltage checks to ensure power is getting down there? Just a couple of ideas.

i checked all the starter and ign fuses i could find. havent done voltage checks yet but it started up just fine 30 min before. i drove it to work. had to make a quick stop for some coffee. didnt work after that. last time this happened it wouldn't work at all till the next day. i went to get it towed to a repair shop and it started up just fine. hopefully it will work in the morning. if not ill do voltage checks.

got it fixed. turns out it was the battery. it was getting enough voltage just no current. had the starter tested and it still works like a champ.
