2011 Suburban LT

Picked up a 2011 Suburban this morning, it's the LT model version with leather seats, and a usb port in the center console. Anyone know how much better this flex fuel suburban is on the highway when using E85? It's has cylinder deactivation and I put it on V8 economy mode. Also, the rear sensing system, how do I know if I have it? Is it a button you depress by the economy mode button? There's is 3-4 buttons there. I'm assuming this Suburban is an LT-2 model, or LT-1 with additional options added seeing how it has all nice black leather and cylinder deactivation along with the usb port. No navigation in it though. Has the heated and cooling seats on ds and ps, rides nice and feels alot more comfortable then the older suburbans I've driven in the 90's. Think it has the 5.3 liter in it. Pretty decent pick up, feels more powerful then the 94 my sister had that had a 350 ci in it. Going to have it for 2 weeks as it is a rental that my insurance Co is paying for. Might be taking a long road trip with it down to FL this weekend or next week.

The rear sensor works automatically, as it started beepeing and got more active as the vehicle got closer.

So what it is your question? Rear sensors can be seen on the rear bumper by the round sensors. Sounds like you figured that out yourself (didn't seller tell you anything). e85 will not get you better mpg.

Yes a rental for at least 2 weeks. So E-85 has no better mileage? So whats the benefit, it just cost less for E 85? I never seen a station that has E-85 so I have no first hand experience in using it. I think this suburban has a 6.0 in it not a 5.3. I didn't see any sticker about engine size on the radiator cap, but it does have the cylinder deactivation option that shuts down 4 of the cylinders when not needed. Wife is using as a daily driver to work ( 100 mile round trip). Would like to get one in the near future as having two kids quickly takes up alot of space in the back and taking them shopping and purchasing goods and trying to cram the goods into an X5 is a challenge. Hoping she gets used to it and feels comfortable with it over the next few days. It's like a small house inside of the suburban compared to the X5.

You will loose 10-20% milage using E85 but it is cheaper. You need to do somw math after running some tanks to see where your breakeven point is (my Tahoe is about 50 cents cheaper than 87 and it is basically no loss in $$$)

 

Also they no longer have the designation LT1 LT2, etc. Only LS, LT, LTZ. The numbers went away after the 08 model year.

Does the 5.3 look similar in size to the 6.0? There is a bunch of room in front of the belts and behind radiator compared to my 6.0 in my truck. Has the extra battery tray where my 6.0 has a battery for duramax option, There are stickers on the radiator shroud mentioning about diesel engines. The plastic vortec cover is smaller then my truck on the top of the engine.

 

So what does the engine feel like after a few tanks of e-85? Does it feel like it has less pep?

1/2 tons have a 5.3 or 6.2 (doubt a rental would have a 6.2).

 

3/4 tons only have a 6.0 (no optional engines for the 2500).

I dont believe so. They had it in the Tahoe in 2009 and the Yukon. Its not even an option for the SUV's (minus the Denali's and cadillacs)

How about the brake lines? I noticed they are coated in what looks like spray in bed liner. Anyone know what GM is using on the lines? I've seen them before on the Traverse and Camaro's and I assume they use it on every other vehicle today.

Looks identical to me from the top. A new Suburban 1500 will have a 5.3 (Al block), and the 2500 has the 6.0HD (cast iron).
