Trailer Wiring Issue

So I just bought a brand new dual axle utility trailer. My cousin had to tow it home from the dealer because something is wrong with the wiring on my truck. Everything worked fine when my cousin towed it with his 05 Silverado so I doubt something is wrong with the trailer itself. I have an 03 Silverado with the factory tow package. The brake lights and turn signals work fine on the trailer during the day with my lights off. However, when I have my headlights on and I use either blinker, everything on the trailer just flashes including all the clearance lights. Also, when I press my brakes, the taillamps go out. Anybody have any idea as to what might be causing this? I'll try to get a video up when I can.

Sounds like you have a bad ground. Run a temporary jumper wire from the frame of the truck to the frame of the trailer and see if the issue goes away.

I have had this happen, I desperately needing the trailer to work cleaned up all the connections really well and it solved it.

Check your GROUND pin on the connector on your truck where you plug the trailor in. The pin may be corroded or may have come loose.

also check the fuses... my trailer lights were acting wierd... only the one brake light would work and it was just a fuse
