Outside air temp. diplay slow to react

I live in an area with lots of hills and black ice. I park my truck in a heated underground parkade which maintanes 50* temps. When I leave early in the morning it takes about 10 minutes and 5 miles before the outside air temp reading drops down to the actual temp. I've also noticed that when driving on long trips that the temp is slow to react. There's a huge difference in driving conditions between 34* and 31* and the diplay doesn't upgrade fast enough to warn me of the potential black ice conditions.

When I've been forced to drive the wife's Vibe, I've noticed that the temp display reacts to the change in temp almost instantly.

Is this normal for my truck? I have temporarily installed a home climate diplay with a remote outside air sensor that seems to work well. It's just a bit ugly. Sorry if my concerns seem somewhat petty but after writing off one truck on black ice and numerous close calls, I rely on this display during the winter months.

my 09 is very quick to react to temp changes, my 06 on the other hand would like yours take 5-10 minutes before it would read accurately.

My 09 temperature display has been known to stick on one temp. I drove to work one day with the temp. showing 58. I got in at lunch and it felt much warmer outside, checked the temp on my phone and saw it was 80. The display didn't change until the next day and seemed to act normal again. This has happened a couple of times.

My 2011 is like that too. Very slow to react to temp changes :dunno: What's up with that lol?

Sounds like my '06, what's worse is as I sit idling the temp will go up & up & up. I've been in -20F before with an outside temp of +80F, while idling. Then just like you describe, miles/minutes of driving later it slowly comes down. My previous Sonoma wouldn't do either of these so I don't what the difference is between the two set ups.

Same thing for my Envoy. Bounces around like a ping pong ball. Think I need to replace the sensor

Normal. If you want to perform an Instant Update of the Ambient Temperature Sensor, Press and hold the Recirc button and A/C button on the HVAC Control Head simultaneously.

Yesterday morning, as I was sliding backwards down a side street, I glanced down at the temp display and it was reading 41 degrees. Grrrrr!
