So this morning at 0500, I tried remote starting my truck(09 Silv) so it would be warm. Nothing. So I finished getting ready for work and went outside to get in. Still nothing. So I manually unlocked the door and put the key into the ignition and turned it. Still nothing. So, I shut the door and started to drive the wife's car, and my truck horn started honking like it would with the security feature. So I hit the key fob again and it worked. Jumped in the truck, but had no entry light. Started the truck, and then the entry light came on and went off immediately. Truck started fine and ran fine to work. Wen I got out at work, I hit the key fob and locked the doors.

Any ideas???

Check the battery in the remote, mine will sometimes act like that when the battery is low.

That shouldn't make the truck not start w/ the key in the ignition though...

Check the battery cables, maybe one's loose?

Could the security system have been holding the starter out?... But that still doesn't make sense why the doom light didn't work.

Is the remote start/alarm oem? Any aftermarket electrical items installed in the truck?

OEM remote start. Aftermarket brake controller and CB Radio. Brake controller goes off after 10 mins, and the CB was Off.

could it be a weak battery affected by the cold weather? I would assume you have a spare key and fob maybe try your other set and see if it does the same thing. If it doesnt then you know its your remote.

Battery issues in the truck. Either your battery is going out, not making a proper connection, or you need to reset everything by removing your positive and negative battery cables from the battery, touching them together and wait about 20 min, then re-connect and see if that solves the issue. Sometimes you just need to reboot your computer.. er vehicle! It is computer controlled after all. :( Good luck!
