cost effective lifts?

I recently put a 2.5" leveling kit and a 1.5" body lift on my 09 silverado. i was talking to someone at my local parts stores the other day who asked how high my truck was lifted. i told him the above and he said "oh so....4"?" and i said yes. the then told me he found a 4" suspension lift for about 400 bucks. anyone know of such a kit? all ive been able to find were 1000 dollar kits.

4" suspension lift for $400 would be junk, probably the 3.5" RCX or something similar to it.

Not all lifts suck, there are many people here that will argue that all day, my 4" has 0 issues

maybe thats what he was talking about. what makes the RCX so terrible? i have the 285/75/17's on my truck right now and am still thinking theyre too thin for my liking. i would like to eventually get something same height (or taller) but mainly wider. i like my 1.5" body lift a lot and dont want to go larger than that but i think i could go larger on the suspension side....provided its not 1000bucks, thats a little out of my price range lol

Not gonna happen then. You get what you pay for.

a lift is not something i would cheap out on... the parts involved are pretty crucial to your saftey

I couldn't agree more....

well i do agree that cheap parts are safety hazards. i dont have that much money right now and since i made the truck a bit higher, now i just want to make it higher and higher lol. maybe one day when these tires wear out i'll buy a lift then.

The lift bug bites again. This is why I always caution people against doing 1.25" body lifts or 3" suspensions, etc. Depending on how much higher you think you want to go, you could always pull your body lift off, sell it, and get a 3" BL. Otherwise save your coins and get a quality suspension lift. It will be worth it in the end.

i would never do a body lift out of personal prefrence... they are just flat out cheap and downright sketchy in my opinion.

i would love to lift my 01 1500 and get wheels and tires and a nice suspension lift but it just is not worth doing to a 12 year old truck with 100k on it and its not practical for how i use my truck.

Cheap yes...sketchy? How so? I've had one on this truck for 4 years without issue (I can't say the same for suspension parts). I had one on my old K5 that I beat the shit out of offroad, as a young man, and I didn't have a single issue with it (can't say the same for front end parts). When's the last time you saw a thread about someones body lift failing or needing to be replaced?

i dont think i'll go 3" body lift, i just am not a fan of it personally. i dont like how far the bumper is from the trailer hitch or the step bar from the body.....overall i just dont like that the body lift is obvious, but thats just me. I would probably geta suspension lift, that is if ican afford it, with just buying a house with my g/f and all lol. now isnt the time to be spending, even though i just bought a new 350 for my t/a lol.

maybe i'll just keep the truck as-is and see if maybe gm will get off their asses and make the GMC Sierra HD All-Terrain concept a damn production truck already! (then save my pennies) lol, i love the way that thing looks!!!!
