Fuel Filter on "05 2500 HD

I went to pick up the in-line fuel filter for my '05 but the parts store said my truck didn't have one. My '01 did and it's virtually the same truck. Why would they eliminate it?

Mainly because most people do not replace them till it is too late anyway IMHO.

I think its retarted also.. im pretty sure late 03 they ended,

My 03 tahoe has one, but none of the 04-06 HD,s had one

04 and newer i believe have a returnless system that has the filter built into the pump...so when the pump dies the filter get replaced too(or vice versa) from what i've read this type of set up is better and lasts alot longer then the filter separate from the pump set ups of old...key thing is not running your tank below a quarter and the pump and filter will live a nice long life
