2006 ABS Pulsating When I Stop

I have a 2006 Sierra 1500 4x4. The ABS is acting up and this is not the first time but its getting more frequent. When i stop the ABS pulsates right before I actually come to a complete stop. I had a 2004 Silverado 4x4 for work that did this all the time. I'd coast about 3 feet before it stopped. I think thats what going to happen to my truck but its every now and again, for now. Is it bad ABS sensors? We have bad salty roads up here and the past 6 winters may have been rusted some of the sensors??? Thanks

If I am understanding your problem then yes it sounds like the low speed ABS activation people here have had problems with. Do a search for low speed ABS or something like that and should find a possible solution. IIRC you VERY carefully remove the sensors (don't want to damage wiring) from the front hub assemblies and clean the mounting surface real good. Reinstall and all will hopefully be good. I guess rust/junk gets built up and pushes the ABS sensor out of whack and tells vehicles it needs ABS when it really doesn't. I've gotten lucky on mine but I don't live in that kind of enviornment anymore and both hubs were replaced since leaving so hopefully won't for a long time to come. Now warping rotors....good grief!

Thanks a lot. Makes sense and this nasty salt ruins everything! I oiled my truck for the first time this year using Fluid Film to help protect the undercarriage but it still does not get into every hard to reach place. I will do that search, thanks.

There was a Recall on this. You can check with the dealer to see if your truck is covered. The wonders of living in a snow/salt state!

That would be awesome if there was a recall! I don;t have time and its friggin cold (though not right now) out and I have no where to fix it! I will look into that tomorrow. If not I found some articles for cleaning the sensor mount to bare metal and greasing it up and putting the sensor back in.

The Recall # is 05068 FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CORROSION

Also there is one for the TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLE REPLACEMENT #06019

Not sure if these apply to your year, but I think they might. I never got it done because I don't like people messing with my truck unnecessarily and I hadn't had any problems. Knock wood!

Mine was done in 2005 according to GM. After a few scary moments(I hate having to throw it in neutral & hit the parking brake)

I just pulled the fuse for ABS. Now it's like a truck I used to know. If I want to lock'em up in the snow, I got that back. Not that we have any snow When I feel like it. I might fix it just to remove the dash warning lights.

I know I plow snow and there is nothing! We are actually up 4" of snow at this point in February on average but we got hit early in October and only 2 small storms since...now its mid 40s. We are 16 snow/ice events down from this time last year! I heard Chicago is having the warmest winter in a very long time. I loved Chicago when I visited for a few days on a trip through Penn State. We visited the Botanic Gardens out there; just unreal! I bet this are blooming and budding over there so maybe make a trip out!
