Which is why they went out of their way to make a video poking fun at *other truck's* bed flex? Seriously... I'm sure that the Ford design really is supposed to flex unloaded, as all trucks do to some degree, but they're the only ones that made a rigged marketing campaign about it.

Its not frame flex ford has the strongest fully boxed frame out of GM dodge and toyota

I do believe that is true ... thought ford was the only one out of the 3 to have a fully boxed frame on there 1500s . Gm i believe only has a fully boxed frame on there 2500 and up . I could be wrong tho.

GMT900 1500 trucks are fully boxed (hydroformed). There's no reason I've seen (data) to think that the F150 frame is stronger (or weaker).

The tail section (bed rails) on all trucks flex. It's just a matter of design as to their specific characteristics. The Ford infomercial on bed flex purposely chose the speed and bump spacing that best matched their design. 10 mph faster or slower, or different spacing, would produce different results. That's the nature of harmonic oscillation.

see it all the time here, the bed looks like it is going to let go.

Its a marketing ploy just like the stutter bumps they took the truck over in the comparisons. My personal favorite is the display they have at dealers with the cut outs where it compares fords radius arm size compared to dodges 4 link arms and how much more massive the Ford ones are

I'm glad someone gets it. I tried to offer the same explaination a couple years ago on another site when that video first came out and just about everyone claimed I was full of crap.

Well what I have learned about this is that GM needs better marketing then or marketing ploys to get the public talking about how good GM trucks are. GM needs to brag more to the general population about there trucks . ..... not sure what there is to brag about beside there HD trucks tho and there locking differential not sure if ford or dodge have that . I am not even sure how well the locking differential works on snow .... sounds scary lol . Anyways my point is GM needs to market better . Ford did a great marketing thing that was awhile ago and it is still being brought up in fourms and stuff.

Ford truck frames seem to have an awful lot of "twist flex" in them. Could this "flexibility" be what makes them so "tough"? Could have a new conspiracy theory going here.:jester:

:rollin: my buddy asked me when im going to get a real truck like a ford..my reply was "when ford starts making trucks with the same standards as my chevy :chevrolet:

The Fords and Dodges standards are pretty good. They both make a really good truck . As for who has the best standard right now . I am not sure and dont think its chev but that happens all the time. Any current reviews comparing the 4 trucks toyota, dodge, chev, ford and right now the testers dont think chev are up to snuff compared to dodge or ford. Chev will be at the top again when there new model comes out. I am a chevy fan because I own one but if I bought a ford I would of been a ford fan . It was scary to think that like 4 years ago GMC could of turned to dust because of bad management and vehicles where not selling.

Alot of my friends dont like any product from GM and associated it with poor quality. I was in class ease dropping on a conversation (CAPSTONES its a 4th year business class) and a guy asked his buddy if he would ever buy a GM product again and he said no. The vehicle falls apart around me.

Looking at my girl friends cavalier I can see what he means . The plastic is cheap, the seats are cheap, the stereo is cheap, the paint is cheap, the engine is gutless and the tranny shifts all over the place. I will admit its a older car 2003 but I dont think GM should of put out a product that cheaply built with those materials. I believe they have step up there game only just recently in the car market with there cruze for product quality for interior on there cars. My 05 chevy has good interior but even comparing it to a 05 ford the ford has a much more solid dash and door moldings compared to my truck.

I can take apart my dash in about 2 mins its all just clipped on (nice for aftermarket stereo) but to me there is not enough clips holding the dash in . The doors are thin enough with the plastic that i can move the plastic easy and there is more road noise compared to a Ford of that same year (2005) .

I love my silverado 2005 1500 but I can see why people dont like that brand and alot of people where not happy with bail outs. Back in my freshmen year the teacher asked if GM was to big to bail out and basically the answer came out to "no company is big enough to be consider to big to bail out". yes there would be jobs lost and alot of unhappy people but the market should decide.

I am personally happy GM is still around but cant be annoyed at the same time . http://www.forbes.com/2010/04/23/general-motors-economy-bailout-opinions-columnists-shikha-dalmia.html

Toyota makes a pretty solid small "toy" truck. I believe its alot better than the other toy trucks like the S10 or Ranger, or Colorado. Watch killing a toyota all the parts . You will have a little more respect for toyota after .

To day Toyota is is basically a American truck. There made in the USA and I think there made in Canada to. I would personally not buy a small truck with the same money I can buy the next size up but Toyota makes a fine product that has been in the states for along time and Canada.

    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE. We're not going down the location rabbit hole. I'm aware of what economic migration is. I've lived in four states including Texas.   It's what "Purchasing Power" means.   I'm not telling you what I think. I'm telling what the government, your government, data shows.   It wasn't an argument. It wasn't a suggestion. It was a statement of FACT. You are absolutely entitled to your own opinion. Your not entitled to your own facts. If you and I were, they wouldn't be facts.    fact /făkt/   noun Knowledge or information based on real occurrences. "an account based on fact; a blur of fact and fancy." Something demonstrated to exist or known to have existed. "Genetic engineering is now a fact. • Probably a one and done post, but do you have a CEL on the dash? Was having issues with my transmission, fortunately only a week, and it turned out to be the transmission harness. Valve body was in good shape, so new harness with all the sensors attached, new fluid, and filter. Seems to have worked so far?
    • Two interesting tidbits of information which are NOT related were just released.   One, regarding the possible thrust bearing issues / engine failures with the 3.0. Demonworks just did a segment in which they believe they may have found "a" or "the" cause of thrust bearing failures: A missing thrust bearing. If the engine doesn't have all its thrust bearings from the factory, the missing bearing can cause extra play which ends up destroying a nearby thrust bearing which then sends metal through the engine.       Of other importance, Lake Speed Jr released some interest information regarding oil weight selection for the 3.0. Comparisons of:   AcDelco 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w30 Mobil 1 ESP x4 0w40. Mobil Delvac 5w40   Spoiler alert: The Mobils are PAO Ester -base and the ACDelco is a Group III base. Mobil shows lower wear in their tests for similar weights. Additive packages between 20-30-40 weight ESP's appear to be the same, but only 0w20 is Dexos D licensed. Wear is even more reduced with 30 and 40 weight ESP although all perform very well and resist shear and provide very similar viscosities within temperature operating ranges in the 3.0.   There are even more surprises, so just go watch it.
