Well add my name to the list of people whose tailgate bowties discolored and developed black spots. I had it replaced at the dealer this week. Anyone know if Chevy got this problem straightened out, or I'm I going to be replacing this thing again?

If it happens again I'll probably go with something off ebay or try my luck with painting it to match the body color.

I have a vinyl overlay on my rear Bowtie

I also see a similar issue with fords blue oval it's not just a Chevy issue

Yeah, I've seen quite a few Fords, especially Expeditions, that have had the same problem, except the Ford emblems I've seen turn silver instead of black. They're probably both made in the same Chinese factory.

Man.... if this is the only problem you have.. thats awesome

Totally agree, so far just a bad power steering hose and this. :fingersx:

Not really a big deal, dealer will replace if it happens again. My brother had the rear one replaced a month after he bought his truck and it's been fine even since. (Bought in in July of 2010)

Took mime off the day the truck came home, stuck it to the wall in the garage.

I should sell it, it's in mint condition

If you didn't know...GM changed them for 2012. They are solid instead of painted from the inside out.

Even if you paint it...and it deteriorates from the inside out, the cover will eventually fall off. I have seen plenty of them completely fall off....front and back, not just the bowties on the tailgate.

I wonder if my replacement is one of these. I did take a look at it, and it did look different.... I just thought it was my imagination. Guess we'll see how time treats this one.

Once you see one....they will stick out to you from now on.

At least they do to me...

Changed dozens of these when I was still with GM, as far as I know none ever came back after the replacement, but that doesnt guarantee that it didnt happen again. They may have just removed it all together or chose not to deal with it.
