Battery light help

Recommended Posts

OK so I did something stupid and left my radio on for 2-3 hours today while I washed/detailed my truck... Long story short the day ended with a jumper pack. Now the red battery light is on and a message saying to check the battery charging system, but the volt guage is reading over 14 with the truck running. Is the light just going to go away by itself? or did i really screw something up...post-106594-0-13223200-1331666715_thumb.jpg

"did I severely damage things?" I sure hope not, if running down a battery can damage a vehicle we'd be in a bad way. I had half a load on one night and went to give somebody a jump. To make sure I had contact I touched the cables together. I heard a click in the engine compartment and I thought "this is it." I liked what somebody's response was on here: "truck is totaled." To make a long story even longer, everything turned out fine.

I figured I didn't really do any damage, but coming out of a 22 yr old miata with check engine lights that didn't work/never came on, and an electrical system as complex as a lawn mower, I figured I'd ask just to be safe.
