DIY What the least invasive yet quality lift kit for a NNBS 4x4

Okay, I've been doing my homework and looking through install guides for various manufacturers and I've noticed there's a huge variation amongst NNBS 4x4 lift kits. I feel Im mechanically inclined enough to perform this install over a weekend with a friends assistance but I've noticed almost all of the kits involve cutting, welding etc... I figured I would turn to the forums and find out what other have experience from installing lifts on their own-

 

For starters Im looking to get around 5-6.5" lift and would like to run somewhere between a 34-35" tires. I don't drive my truck much and it will probably end up being what people refer to as a "parking lot queen" so off roading capabilities of the lift are really of no concern to me just a decent ride quality and good price/value in the kit. Hopefully I can get some insight on the following questions-

 

-Whats some of the least invasive kits on the market today as far as cutting and welding?

 

-What's some kits that you feel offer great value for the money (other than RC)?

 

-Easiest kits to install?

3 inch body lift and 2 inch level for what your functional needs are.

The BDS kit is top quality. The cutting/welding is done to install brackets to keep your angles as close to stock as possible. Stay away from body lift, to much frame sticks out and looks silly without berf bars IMO.

From past experience installing these kits and using them, BDS is the way to go.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Frog fish, I noticed your sig says you'll be adding a zone lift soon. What made you decide that's the way you want to go? I've heard their somehow involved with BDS?

What have you guys heard about "Zone" & "FTS" lift kits? I've looked at them both and Im wondering if the FTS is going to be too tall. I like the stuffed look with 35" but not too crazy about tires rubbing... catch 22 eh?

Local shop around here does mostly Zone 6.5" lifts, tried real hard to get me to go that route when I had the Rancho installed. I don't have any personal experience with it, but seems like a good lift for a decent price.

zone is bds's sister company created to compete with roughcountry and other cheap lifts, they still make a very good kit. most all of the ones ive ever done on a gmt900 involve welding of one plate where you cut the crossmember for the differential to drop down. no cutting/welding=body lift and leveling kit

What does it take to fit 35s under the 2+3 combo. I've been wanting to do it for a while but I don't want the lift without 35s

Stock offset or very close to stock on the wheels to fit 35's with minimal trimming.

I've had nothing but great dealings with Zone and would recommend them to anyone.
