Duramax problem?

My boss just got stranded buy his Duramax.  Dealer told him it was a fuel problem, he said like the fuel pump or something.  He is the second person I've heard have this problem.  Just curious if this is pretty common, and if there are any other common fixes I should let him know about.

Well, my wife told me what happened.  The gas guage was reading 1/4 tank, but really was on empty.  After being towed to the dealer, the gas guage was reading 1/2 tank or something, but still on empty

Sounds like a faulty gage or sending unit...  I guess it's not as embarrassing if you run out of fuel and it's not really your fault.
