..but after 8,000 miles I cant say I feel same about my truck anymore. I bought her last Sept. 2011 CC Z71 5.3 3.42. Shes black, flat sexy I tell ya! The ride is great IMO. BUT...(dont you hate that part?) ....im not feeling the performance I thought it would have, or should have. Maybe its just me, coming from a '04 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7 which I thought was really snappy, but this truck needs more power, or at least 3.73 gears. Off idle lag, trans hunting for the right gear( I live in PA..a lot of rolling hills), traction control/stabilitrac wont let the G80 kick in(have to turn those off)...Hate to say it, but ive been contemplating a .....GGGRRR YACK! Ford! There I said it! I was the guy you saw at the Ford dealership with the dark sun glasses and sombrero!

 

I really do love my truck, honestly I do. I just think its lacking in the bottom end. When I left work the other day, on a back road, I stopped completely and gave her hell! Two 6 inch marks. Now im not expecting a drag car here but man it just fell on its face. Then I stopped and power braked it. They turned, about as much as if you popped the clutch on a Metro at 3000 rpm...lol. It was bad! On the highway its not too bad. Has plenty of pep in the midrange I think. After all the reading I did before I bought the truck, I think my expectations might have been a little too high here. Sorry if this comes off as a rant, I guess it is, just had to get it off my chest.

Get a 6.2 if you want a fun truck. Or a tune on your current one, the 5.3 IMO is tuned way down from factory for emission stuff I guess.

You need to get a custom tune. Maybe then you won't be so disappointed and whiney.

 

You can get your trans shift adjusted for your driving. You understand your truck has a feature called torque management that prevents you from ripping it up, laying down rubber and also doing brake stands. You can have the TM reduced or removed completely.

I thought of that, and switching to 3.73 gears. But ive got 8000 miles on it. Might be easier to trade. I owe 25, so not sure what I wanna do. Maybe live with it. But ive been thinking way too much about it lately, so I doubt living with it is being realistic.

Climbing a muddy hill to a hunting stand, TC and ST kicked in causing it to "shudder" and you could put the peddle to the floor and it got worse. Stopped the truck, turned both off, it accelerated like normal and the locker kicked in. So did it act normal? Or not?

I was trying to tell myself that, until I remembered the 6 spd trans "that makes the 3.42's feel like 4.56's" or whatever I read before I bought the truck. I just think its feels flat. Again, coming from a light SUV I could be spoiled.

If your not happy sell it. We cant talk you into liking it. I love my 5.3 with 3.42. If I didn't, it'd be gone already. Go buy a 6.2. Tuning it isn't going to make a huge difference. Just go get a 6.2 and call it a day.

You got that right, it's terrible..Doesn't take much to wake them up though.......OP, Get a tune, you won't be disappointed with it. You'll also notice more with the pesky AFM disabled. IMO, that's the worst thing GM has done with these trucks.
