Another steering clunk issue

Hey guys, I am certain that this plaguing issue has surfaced many times. The dreadful steering clunk issue that is caused by the intermediate steering shaft. Well, I replaced this shaft on my 02 Sierra 10K miles ago and all was good until a month ago.

Now, the clunking issue has returned. I pulled the shaft and found that it it VERY tight and doesn't seem to be any movement between the two pieces.

I was planning to install a grease fitting on the shaft to make it easy to grease, but the shaft seems to be fine.

Any ideas about this issue?

If I recall there is no place you put a grease fitting on the ISS that would solve the problem with the shaft. If you are getting a clunk and it's not the shaft I'd start looking at your entire steering system....

Ball joints

Tie rods

Pitman Arm

Idler Arm

Hub bearings

Loose lugs

Just some ideas off top of my head.
