2011 4x4 Crew steering issue

I’ve searched the forums for something similar to what I am seeing with my truck but have been unable to find another posting that seems to fit. I am under warranty and plan on taking the truck in, but I thought someone might have seen the issue I have and it might give the dealer a starting point to look for.

Truck is a 2011 Silverado crew. The issue is most similar to the intermediate steering shaft issue on the GMT800’s (I know that feeling well) where the steering wheel feels loose and you can feel a popping movement in the column. This is similar but not exactly the same.

I live in an area with hilly and curvy roads. Whenever I am turning to the right with the top of the steering wheel turned to about 2 o’clock going uphill in a curve that slopes down to the right so that most of the vehicle weight is on the passenger front tire I get a pop or clunk in the steering. I don’t know if it is suspension or steering related, but my gut says it is steering.

I know my description is very specific to a certain condition, but I experience this every day on my way to work at the same place on the road, so I can replicate it. I just don’t know if the dealer can

.

Has anyone run into anything similar or have a suggestion where to begin. Thanks in advance for all suggestions/help.

Not trying to kill anyone. Not trying to tell anyone what to do. Thanks for the very HELPFUL response. I imagine you were wonderful in your former job.

i "ll explain myself for you and your shitty attitude ...

when you tell them where to start looking or what to check its on you ,not the shop if THEY phuck it up ,because they will say "you told us what to do "

even with warranty ,the techs arnt stupid ,its insulting for a customer with zero or little experience to tell a tech/shop what to do

I have a 2007 Silverado Crew Cab 4x4 that has the same steering knock issue. I brought the truck in when it was still under warranty but the dealer could not identify the issue. The noise persists and remained the same after I installed a leveling kit. While I had the truck in for oil consumption fixes (round two) at a different dealer, I asked them to take a look. The tech said that a steering bushing was bad and needed replacing. They ordered the part but I never made it back over there to have them replace it which was going to be a couple hundred bucks.

I have a coworker with a 2008 Silverado Ext Cab 4x4 that has the same steering knock as me.

Thanks for the info. Got to get the truck into the dealer in a day or two.

Just read this thread the other day and wish I didn't, maybe a bad omen. This morning when I was backing the truck out I myself heard popping in the steering. From either side lock to lock I hear it a couple times. Not sure what it is as of now...but I don't like it. Thankfully my truck only has 14k on it still. Gonna take it into the dealer and see what they say as soon as I get a day off from slaving for the man.

I had the driveline clunk sound for the first few thousand miles that only comes around sometimes now. This is like a popping sound and definitely coming from the front end.
