94 Silverado not shifting

Wish I would have known to do that earlier. It would have made getting the pan bolts out a heck of a lot easier.

Having trouble getting the tail shaft mount bolts lined up. Is there a trick to that too? There is very little room inside that mount to put the bolt back though. I got the driver's side, but don't think the passenger is lining up.

Leave the first bolt loose while you're trying to get the other bolt in. You're going through a rubber transmission mount that probably shifted a bit. You might try taking something and use it like a spud wrench to get the holes lined up

your right, for some reason i got the thinking this was a vortec.

you could have a bad TPS sensor since you said you have a high idle tps sensor's play a big part with shift points and such.

More bad news, just sitting in the driveway idling- idle was surging, cycle through the gears and get a code 22 (no 2nd gear). I would put a TPS on but I hate throwing parts at a problem, and I think I have more serious problems with my tranny.

Edit, after searching the internet, looks the book that came with scanner is wrong. If code 22 is actually the TPS, it would make more sense. This all started when I washed the engine (erratic idling, no shifting). I will pick one up tomorrow and pray GMStrong is right.

btw, changing the filter and oil fixes nothing except puffing up other peoples wallets ,,,,why people do this is still baffling to me ,,oh well, tps may fix it

good luck

Thanks for the help guys! The TPS fixed everything. You wouldn't think a little sensor could cause no shift, erratic idle, no start issues.

On the positive side, I got some preventative maintenance done - fuel filter, tranny service.

Only issue it has now is the EGR. It's been throwing that code for over a year. It got cleaned when I did the throttle body gasket. I am going to replace the solenoid first, then the EGR if it is necessary.

Just an update for anyone that might run into this in the future. I changed my EGR valve and solenoid and it now idles smoothly with no codes present. I hope I can keep this old truck running a few more years.

Thanks for all the help I got on this topic.

first tell me which truck are you using. because different trucks have different specifications. i think may be its because of the battery, check and disconnect them for while and then reconnect them again or also it can be the rear transmission mount.

94 Chevy Silverado, and after a month code 22 pops up again. Hoping this time it was just a POS part from Autozone.

Yep, bad part from Autozone. They gave me a new TPS under the lifetime warranty and she is running perfect again. If this one fails, I will go get an ACDelco part.
