We got a new truck!

We decided to pass on the Salvage & rebuilt Dodge and kept looking

We came across a decent deal on a 96 Chevy Half Ton Extended Cab 4x4 pickup in the Cheyenne trim. For those who don't know Cheyenne is the base of all base trims - manual windows, manual locks, manual transmission, 4.3L V6, etc. It isn't a race car by any means but it can get out of it's own way, and it's not like we tow anything, and on the very rare occasion we need to tow anything larger than the 4.3 can handle, my truck has a modified 350 in it. It's very comfortable and feels very nice, and drives very nice for a manual transmisisoned truck.

It has 82,000 miles on it, which isn't too terribly high considering the other trucks we've looked at. In fact, it was the only truck in our price range we looked at that had less than 100,000 miles on it. It books at $13,500, they were asking $13,900 and I talked them down to $12,500, while still paying off the $4500 difference on Dawn's truck.

Congrats on the new truck. The 96 4.3L should be a decent motor and should give you reliable service, and fairly good MPG's.

I had a '95 Ext Cab 305 Cheyenne (had Exterior Appearance Pkg Though). And it was one of the best truck I ever had. Congrats, I am sure you'll enjoy it! :thumb:

BTW : I used to tow close to 6000lbs 3 times a year about 140 miles round trip each time with my 4.3 and it did great , braking was a bit of a challenge
