adostall01 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Hello! I am buying new rims/tires for my 2010 Crew Cab LT (not a Z71). It has the stock 17's on right now. I would like to go with 20" rims with 275/55/20 rubber, but I am told I need a 2" leveling kit. This brings me to the following question. Should I buy the 2" leveling kit or go with new adjustable shocks? The leveling kit is less expensive, but I don't want to feel like I'm riding on a hay wagon, either. Also, do you recommend lifting the rear at all? I have also been looking at going with 18's and 265/65/18 rubber. Would these fit without any suspension tweaking? Thank you for any information you can share!!! Allen
Chris Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 No level needed for either I believe. Both are stock sizes. I have a 2004 with 2.5" and I run a 275/55r20 and I have plenty of room Sent from my PIECE OF CRAP DROID X2 using Xparent Red Tapatalk 2
BlackZ71Silverado Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 The overall tire sizes will be close, wheel size means nothing really. Bigger hole in the rubber does not make the tire larger, no kit needed. Sent from my iPhone4S using Tapatalk
blackout07 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I'll echo the others. You don't need a leveling kit. If you choose to level, it's up to you which direction you want to go. I would stick with a cheap spacer, as there is virtually no change in the ride.
adostall01 Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Awesome! Thanks for the help! A dumbass at Discount Tire told me 20's would rub the fenders while turning. What a loser. hahaha!
blackout07 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Sounds like he needs some training or a new job. Then again, you only need common sense to know something as simple as that.
