New rotors and pads for GMT900... any advice?

With almost 24,000 miles, I'm looking to replace the warped OEM rotors and lose the annoying steering wheel shimmy. I'm definately leaning towards Hawk LTS pads, but I can't decide whether to go with the Centric Power Slot Cryo rotors or the Hawk Quiet Slot rotors. I wonder if anyone who actually runs either of these rotors can chime in.

i got the cross drilled rotors that come with the powerstop pads from ebay. if you search on here you'll see alot of people that bought from the guy with great things to say.

What is the problem that damages rotors? I have warped rotors as well with 30,000 miles. Looking to replace them soon cause I hate when they make the truck shake.

Cheap "made in china" rotors. With a heavy truck, one panic stop may be enough to warp them. Seems to be a common problem with these trucks.... cheap OEM rotors.

I, personally, would NOT put OEM back on (someone above implied they would) after having EBC/Hawk on mine... just my opinion.

I think GM dropped the ball on the brakes on these trucks, my truck has 70K on it and I put new pads/rotors on it at 50K. I got someRaybestos heavy duty rotors/pads off of Rock Auto, I wanna say I got everything for about 200 bucks and installed them myself, was fairly painless. I looked at them yesterday and they still look like new.

OEM and maintaining the brakes works just fine. A caliper service, once or twice a year goes a long way towards the life of your pads and rotors. Take the rotor off the truck, remove any rust, clean and lube the pins, clips, etc. Just thinking that they will last forever without maintaining them, but they don't.

Most of the brake jobs on trucks we see in are for rusted rotors due to letting the truck sit most of the year and lack of maintinence. Then the pads wear unevenly, the rotors go to crap, and then the customer doesn't want to spend the $$$ on them because they feel their brakes should have lasted alot longer. They look dry from the day they are delivered to the dealer.

Also, not all the OEM rotors are made in China. I put OEM on my 2500hd, and the rotors were made in Mexico, and the pads in the USA.

I have problems with all my OEM light duty rotors. This is my 2nd brand new truck and the rotors on my 04 didn't last either. Put the top of the line NAPA on and walaa no more problems. Plus I never did anything different with the quality NAPA vs OEM. Rotors should last longer than 30000 miles. My wifes old 06 malibu also had problems with those rotors, replaced them with NAPA and walaa no more problems. Also didn't inspect them. My dad had a 2500 Duramax that was an 06, never had a bit of problems out of them. I don't care what anyone says, I will not put the OEM back on my truck. I would rather put something quality on and not have to do any maintenance and have them last for miles and years! Since I am going with a bigger tire, I am wanting something with a little better stopping distance.

Slotted; yes. Cross drilled, no (never!). Cryogenically treated; your call. I put Powerslot cryogenics and Hawk street pads on my Z28 and 'Vette; extremely competent performance with no problems. My truck is too new to think about it yet, but when it's time, I'll probably use the same stuff.

It's not just the trucks. My wife's Cruze has slightly warped rotors at 14,000 miles. The OEM ones are trash.

That is why they only warranty them for 12/12, they know they are junk. Funny though how I have GM cars from 1969 that the rotors lasted for well over 100K and never warped.
