Headers 5.3 L

I have a 04 Silverado with a 5.3L engine. It has a custom exhaust done by a shop. I was wondering how much more power a set of headers would give it? Is it worth the upgrade? What type (shorty or not) etc. Any info on this would be appreciated! thanks

Would these be alright? Anyone used these before?

A tune would give you more for prolly less $. That's the next thing im doing when the dough is there.

Thats what i was gonna do very soon. But wanted to get other stuff out of the way first.

If your going to do headers get long tube headers without a doubt. LT headers will give you a small hp and torque increase as well as making your truck sound louder.. IMO they might be harder to install but there worth it if you have the money to get them

I just got a set of Dynatech's. The sound is a little deeper.. I like it.. Power gains not so sure..

I had gotten a custom tune prior to the headers so that may be affecting something.

Be prepared to deal w a couple broken manifold bolts.. Got a check engine light also... Seems everyone does after they put them on...

I have a 6.2 and when I installed arh headers, I noticed a pretty big increase in power right off the bat before tuning. I guess each motor responds differently, but you will only gain noticeable amounds with long tubes. The noise will be louder but it's exotic sounding imo...headers are a great upgrade. Plus when I decide to sell this truck later, I'll rip them off and sell them for what I paid for them. Pacesetters are great headers for the price. Arh, Dynatech and Kooks are expensive if you want the best.

Thanks for all the info guys! I really appreciate it. Ill look into some long tubes for sure! Do high flow cats help much or are the stock ones ok?

high flows and your stock cats are basically the same. From my understanding GM designed the stock ones so they would flow real good. Your old ones may be tired and worn out and need replacing but I say keep stock cats and replace em latter on if need be

LT and tune seem to do about 25 WHP. Just read it in a post form a tuner somewhere but cant remember where now.

IMO- use 15/8" primary tubes, and 21/2" collectors unless your pushing high HP. on a stock 5.3 you will see better low/mid HP/TQ where most of your driving is done, than with larger pipes and still have good higher end power...
